Lacuna Search crosses the finish line at the Margaret River Ultra Marathon

May was a big month for the team at Lacuna Search. We tackled the Margaret River Ultra Marathon as a relay with a team of 5 runners completing the 80kms of beautiful but ‘brutal’ trail running.

We started with one simple goal: Finishing. However, it very quickly became more than that.

Here are some of the valuable life lessons we learnt:

The power of a growth mindset over a fixed mindset – ‘I’m not a runner’ Vs ‘I can learn to do anything I put my mind to.’ It’s a small shift with big impact. Cultivating an environment with this mindset is infectious & rewarding.
Always seek inspiration – It’s a springboard for motivation. It also stirs your heart and mind, propelling you to inspire others.
Surround yourself with people better than you in all parts of life – People fitter, stronger, more worldly, more knowledgeable.
Growth requires moving forward imperfectly – You can’t wait for perfect conditions. A constant battle for the ‘perfectionists’ out there.

I encourage you to take part in a team challenge like this, whether it be with friends, work colleagues, or family. You’ll find yourself working towards a huge goal and reap the benefits of exercising to fuel your passion for your work and so much more.
